[ He takes a deep breath and runs a hand through his hair, clearly trying to get his temper in check. It mostly works, the fury settling into a low simmer, but no less there.

After a pause; ]

... I'm sorry.

...Thanks. I really wish this hadn't happened.

Though, that seems obvious to say, I guess.

[ And then compelled murder-suicide.

After a moment's hesitation, he holds his hand out to her again. ]

[She blinks, but then reaches out to take his hand more smoothly this time. Though her eyes still don't linger.]

[ Cool. He's going to wordlessly pull her into a hug, then. ]

[rollplayinghouse]

[That also comes as a surprise, but she wraps her arms around him gratefully and tucks her head against his shoulder with a slow exhale.]

[ King is still tense, though clearly not because of her. But he holds her like that for a long while, only pulling back a little when he finally does. ]

I intend to deal with her.

[Maki is clearly not eager to pull away either.]

That depends entirely on what answers she gives me.

Yugi will remember this for a long time to come. If nothing else, I'm going to make sure she does too.

[rollplayinghouse]

[She considers that for a moment, but then she just nods.]

I told her she'd answer for it, and I don't intend to let her off either. But... I can't act rashly, so... I need to decide what I want to do. You can handle her first, and we'll see where we are.

[ He shakes his head. ]

[She shifts away a bit more, but just to look at him properly.]

He pulls back and takes her hand, tugging her over to sit at the edge of the roof, just like last time. A pattern is forming here. ]

[It's a good pattern.

She sits flush against his side, turned toward him rather than forward.]

Wryly, after a moment: ]

We should find better reasons to hang out.

[rollplayinghouse]

It would be hard to have worse ones.

[a tired but faintly amused huff.]

We should, though. I wouldn't mind coming out here just for fun, sometime.

[ That earns a small smile ]

I'd like that.

But maybe we should invest in some chairs or something.

...Maybe a couch? If we can get something that would be alright outside...

[ For some reason, the idea of a couch on top of a random building just for them to hang out on is unbearably charming. ]

Imagine the questions you'll get, levitating a couch from the hotel out into the city.

[Maki's lips turn up a little.]

Do you think people would actually ask? A lot of them would be too embarrassed over the answer they might get.

Or worried what I might do to them for it.
