...There's a game—maybe the worst game—where you do have to hurt people yourself, and it also messes with your mind. It's not exactly that it forces you into it, but it... twists things that you actually think or want into reasons to hurt people you care about. If you hear people say the murder house, or the murder hotel... that's it.
But they've run that one three times already, so probably it won't come up again any time soon.
[Something about having his reason twisted like that gives rise to blind panic somewhere within Levity's mind, but he shakes his head stubbornly, as though to chase the thought away. If it isn't likely to come up in the near future, he probably shouldn't worry about it yet - he can do so once he's more used to this place in general.]
But may I ask what kind of sweets? I know not whether I can cook, but it would be interesting to at least try to make something.
[Can't believe they started out kinda side-eyeing each other, now it's time for baking buddies.]
I shall text you once I am more settled in, then!
[He thinks for a moment.]
Oh... Isn't it possible to make that into a live? I am still a little uncertain how all that works, but as far as I understood it, those are like public performances?
Well... The way an oven works is simply providing sufficient heat in an enclosed space over a certain period of time, yes? I wondered whether 'twould be possible to recreate the same, but without the oven specifically. Open flames as the heat source would be an obvious choice... The length of time presents the problem, I believe--otherwise I would have tried to find a way to force the reaction instantaneously, or as near to it as possible. But baking is not a simple process like, say, expansion or vaporization, and trying to cram it into too short a time would likely be disastrous.
The main issue is applying the heat as evenly as possible. Fire is intense and focused on a small area. There are some things you can cook over an open flame, like pancakes, but they're going to be a lot more cooked on the outside than the inside. By the time you've made a chamber that dissipates the heat to a consistent temperature long enough to get all the way through an actual cake or something, you've just built an oven.
...Which you could do, I guess. But maybe it would be a better idea to experiment with flavors or decorations. Or combining things with gadgeteering, or something.

I'd say it's not likely those exact mechanics would come up again, but they've definitely re-run some of the games, so... it's possible.

[Despite everything, though, he smiles, obviously relieved.]
I would also like to ask if there is aught I can do for you as thanks. Baked goods are a staple?

And yeah. I like sweets.

...Anything is good, really. But I do a lot of baking myself, so I could give you some recipes to try, if you wanted.

Really? I would love that! May I ask you to teach me, then?

It's definitely possible, yeah. ☆ZRAEL has a monologue live, so I've actually done it as a cooking show before. You could also experiment...

As fun as it would be, I hope 'twouldn't be the sort of experiment that would leave us with burnt food.

But it would be interesting to try unconventional methods of baking. Finding alternatives to an oven, for example...
[Levity "how quickly can we burn down a dorm" futureisnow.]

What kind of alternatives were you thinking of?
