Youtube. (She just describes it in that video; the memory is the actual event.)
Late in the night, Maki takes a crossbow, poison arrows, and an Electrohammer, approaches a circle of 4 heavily armed Exisal mechs, hits one with the hammer to disable it, and climbs into the cockpit to hijack it. While inside the mech, she can enter a hangar which has a security system on the shutter door.
Inside, she finds C and X in the middle of a fight. C has a crossbow arrow in this arm. They're interrupted by the entrance of the Exisal and turn to stare.
C tries to use his remote to control the Exisal, and Maki immediately jumps out of the robot and shoots him in the back. The arrow is coated with a non-immediately lethal poison, so it causes a lot of pain and will kill him, but Maki wants to question him first. She demands to know what he's actually planning, as a Remnant of Despair. If he's really the mastermind, why was he so obvious about it? What is he trying to accomplish?
C: Wh-What are you talking about...? Remnants of Despair? What's that? I-I don't understand... anything you're saying... B-But anyway... why are you... starting up the k-killing game... when it should've ended? Y-You already know... it's all meaningless... and th-that I'm the mastermind... Do you... love killing that much?
Maki: Shut up, you asshole!
Maki gives up on questioning and tries to shoot him again. However...
X jumps in the way of the arrow.
Maki immediately freaks out and runs from the hangar, leaving both C and X there inflicted with poison as she crosses the entire school to go back to the Ultimate Detective's lab (which is stocked with poisons) to find the antidote.
However, when she returns, the shutter to the hangar is closed and she can't get in again. Instead, she goes to a small bathroom window and calls out to X before throwing the antidote inside. But C steals it.
C: Sorry, but I can't die here... Since I'm... the mastermind of this killing game... Maki: Wait! There's only one antido-- C: Oh... you don't have to worry about [X]. He fulfilled his dream, right? He already went... to space. X: Tch... Dammit.
C "drinks" the antidote.
C: Phew! I feel so much better! I guess that's a wrap... Or maybe not. Because now another class trial is going to start. Maki: Class trial...? C: You'll be the blackened for this case, y'know? The blackened who killed [X]. Maki: I... I killed...? X: Shut it! Screw the class trials! Like hell I'm going to let you have your way! Maki: [X], why did you protect [C]?! If you didn't help him, then-- X: I couldn't help it... Even if it's [C]... I-I can't... have you kill anybody! Maki: ...What? C: Awww, [X] wasn't protecting me. He was protecting Maki! ...The situation just got way worse, huh? Maki is gonna become the blackened responsible for killing you... all because you protected me. Maki: ... X: D-Don't you worry, Maki Roll, I'm not gonna die that easily... Just leave it to me! I'll put an end to this killing game! C: Ah-haha... You're still full of energy, even like that... You really are... not boring. X: What? C: Nee-heehee... I wanna see what a dying [X] can do. So show me what you've got! I won't meddle with your plans! Maki: What are you--?! X: Don't mind me... Run, Maki Roll! Just... hurry up and run... Run... and live! You gotta live!
Maki does run, but not away. She goes back around to frantically attack the control panel for the hangar door with her knife in an attempt to open it. It doesn't work.
When she goes back around to the window again, no one is there. The bathroom door is closed, and no one answers. Despite her distress, there's nothing else Maki can do there, and she just has to leave. As she does, she decides her new plan - during the class trial, she'll make everyone believe C is the real culprit. By voting wrong, everyone but her will die-- but that includes C. And she thinks everyone else's lives are a fine exchange.
