Why you think what happened after this last game was anything like those other times! Why you think you still can't trust me because I was doing the exact same thing I screwed up before, when as far as I can tell I did the opposite!

I didn't push you, I didn't tell you to be honest with me. I didn't try to talk about it. I let you leave and have your space. I treated you exactly like you just asked to be treated.

I just wanted to keep King company, and even though you'd just told me you didn't care, I invited you to come with us. I wasn't doing that to force feelings out of you. It just seemed like it would be nice if we could all spend time together. Apparently I was wrong!

[There's a tense silence for a few seconds, and her face shifts fractionally a few times as she tries to figure out what emotion she's feeling and what to do about it.

When she finally moves, she's on her feet in a split second, both hands reaching out to grip his now-intact shirt.]

It's not about winning. And you're not a loser. I don't care if I was right, or logical.

[—She shakes her head once, sharply, as if to clear it, and takes a slow breath.]

...Then, what if I put it this way...? That's not the game I'm playing. I'm not trying to get one over on you. I'm not trying to prove to you you're wrong. My victory condition is a lot different than that, and this isn't any closer to it.

Yes. Because I thought something very different would happen, when I did it.

Sure, a little bit. You try to provoke me all the time too. But I told you, I didn't think you'd be that pissed off. I thought you'd give it your hour to save face before coming to ZRAEL, then grab King and me and drag us off to do whatever you wanted to do.
